Because... I'm new at this and need organization.
I discovered bullet journals earlier this year, and despite my best efforts, I have yet to complete a whole monthly spread. Am I the only one looking at the pro's like,"How are you achieving this, because I don't have this kind of time?"
One of my goals for October is to complete my monthly spread in it's entirety... Then, repeat the process until the book is full. Since there's no time like the present to start, let's get to it!
Right now I really love clean, minimalist, one page bullet journal layouts. It helps me to concentrate on what's really important that week and stay on task. For smaller tasks, I use my tried and true DIY dry erase board to help me remember things throughout the day.
I like to start each month with a recap of the previous month and a cover sheet of the new month side by side. My monthly layout usually has a spot for my goals, to do list, shows I want to watch and notes. This month I added a place for my Fall family bucket list (click to get your free printable checklist). I'm so excited to make new memories with my guys!
I had some spare time during my son's nap time, so I decided to try out different layouts for each week. Although each weekly spread is different aesthetically, they are all divided into two categories: personal and work.
I did a trial run of this in September, which is why you're getting more consistent blog posts. I learned that when I can see what my goal is, I can work more efficiently. Hopefully, by completing a month at a time, I'll be able to knock October out of the park!
WEEK 1
I'll be honest, I really didn't know what I was doing, but I like the way it turned out. I started by drawing two large semicolons then scribbling hearts down the sides to make what would be considered laurels. I added the day and date in the middle of each section. Since I do bigger projects on the weekends, Saturday and Sunday get combined into one large section.
WEEK 2 & 3
For the second week, I decided to use a simpler approach. Simple long banners with the day and date listed inside. Because the boxes were larger, I ran out of room at the bottom (oops!), so Saturday and Sunday got their own space, but it's not enough to separate work and personal.
On the third week, I counted and counted again to make sure I had enough space for the weekend. I went back to using the laurels idea, but modified a few to make "U" shapes, ovals and my personal favorite, the "S."
Week 4 & 5
I think I got delirious during week four, because I'm not even sure what I was trying to achieve with this one. So, let's just move on, shall we?
The start of week 5 contains Halloween, so I added a few examples. I decided not to continue the week into November, because I may have a new idea by the Since the month ends on Tuesday, I decided to use the extra space to write down a few of my favorite memories for the month.
Hopefully, you found some inspiration in this post. I'd love to see your bullet journal layouts! Link them below or #BuJowithShaina on Instagram!
