Because I'm only buying 1 roll of Christmas paper this year.
Not go to completely Scrooge McDuck on you, but I hate wrapping gifts. Not because I don't know how, but mostly because it's wasteful... and expensive (considering the recipient is going to rip it up and throw it away), but I digress.
Since I literally bought one huge roll of wrapping paper for everyone's gifts this year, I had to get creative with how to cover the oddly shaped presents. I could have purchased pre-made gift bags, but I'm not buying NOTHING else Christmas related. Plus, I like to DIY (win-win situation). So, after the most basic search on Pinterest (follow me), I found how to make a gift bag out of wrapping paper. Here's my version...
SUPPLIES
- Wrapping Paper
- Tape or hot glue gun
- Tissue Paper
- Ribbon
- Hole punch (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Cut enough paper to comfortably cover your gift, leaving enough excess to fold the base and top of the bag.
Then, tape (or run a bead of hot glue down) the full length of the paper.
Fold the bottom of the bag up to make the base. The width of the bag will be determined by how much you fold.
Fold the top and bottom flaps to the center and overlap them. Then fold and secure the flaps with tape or glue.
Open the bag and insert your gift. Cover it with tissue paper and/or fold the top down. Punch a few holes and secure it with ribbon.
It's a quick and easy way to personalize a gift, and should take less than 5 minutes to complete. If you decide to try it, head over to social media and show off your style with #DIYwithShaina.
Happy Holidays!
